                                                            WAN (Wide Area Network)

A WAN is a network not restricted to a small geographical area and covers a large area consisting of computer networks connecting to each other through telecommunication companies.

WANs rely on telecommunication organizations for communicating (unlike a LAN).

WANs make very long distance connections (even global ones) possible.
